Aphasia is a communication disorder that usually comes after a stroke or traumatic brain injury, and affects more than two million people in the US. Although it can affect a person's ability to speak, comprehend, read and/or write, it does not affect their intellect. Come learn about aphasia, successful communication tips, and a wonderful nonprofit that helps people and families living with the disorder. Handcrafted gift items made by members will be for sale.
Robin Straus, M.S., has worked with Adler Aphasia Center in Maywood since 2008. She leads the Education and Training program for visiting medical students, residents and other healthcare professionals, as well as members of the community.
