3d print submission Instructions

PLEASE READ THE GUIDELINES CAREFULLY BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR REQUEST AND DESIGN FILES.  YOUR REQUEST MAY BE DECLINED IF THE GUIDELINES ARE NOT PROPERLY FOLLOWED.

  1. Please fill out the form to submit a request for 3D printing.

  2. Wait until you receive confirmation that your print request has been approved and submit your design files when requested.

  3. After we have provided the cost of the request, please confirm that you would like us to proceed.

  4. If you are a Leonia library cardholder, you must provide your library card number.  If you have not picked up your print within the 90 days, the cost of the print will be charged to your account.

  5. If you are not a Leonia library cardholder, you must pay in advance for your print in person at the Leonia Library or online before your design can be printed. Make Payment Here

  6. Please pick up your print within 90 days once it is completed.

Guidelines

  1. Please place only ONE request at a time and wait until the request is completed before submitting additional requests.

  2. Please wait for confirmation before submitting any design files.  We need to ensure the proper information has been provided before we can handle your request.

  3. Please ensure that your design is no more than 175mm x 180mm x 190mm and that you double-check to make sure that the size of the design is the size you intend it to be. 

  4. Please only submit .stl or .obj files.

  5. We are able to assist with resizing, if necessary.  Due to staff availability, however, we can not provide any further design assistance.

  6. Requests are processed in the order they are received and are printed when staff is available.  Please allow several days for prints to be completed.

  7. 3D prints are charged by weight and cost $.15/gram.

  8. We will inform you when your print is complete and you may pick it up at the circulation desk.  Please be aware that we will only be able to hold prints for 90 days.

  • The library’s 3D printer may be used only for lawful purposes.

  • The library’s 3D printer may not be used for the printing of items that are unsafe, harmful, and dangerous or pose an immediate threat to the safety and well-being of others.

  • The library’s 3D printer may not be used to print items that can be viewed as threatening or racially, ethnically or otherwise provocative or inappropriate for the Library environment.

  • The library’s 3D printer cannot be used to print objects that violate another’s intellectual property rights.

3d Design

You can submit objects for printing via the form below. You can either find an object you’d like to print from pre-made designs on website or submit objects you designed yourself.

Pre-made designs are available at thingiverse.com.

For designing your own objects, the following free software is available:

Be sure that you download or export your files as .stl or .obj files.
