Leonia library fine forgiveness month
Are old library fines keeping you from using the library and taking advantage of all the many free resources it has to offer? Now is your chance for a fresh start. Starting on Tuesday, October 1st through Thursday October 31st, The Leonia Public Library will hold Fine-Forgiveness Month, allowing library users to return long-overdue and lost items without any fines. Existing Leonia Library fines on previously returned items will also be waived for Leonia Library cardholders.
This special amnesty applies to Leonia Public Library materials only. The library cannot waive fines for other libraries. All books, DVDs, CDs, and other materials returned must be in good and usable condition, able to be returned to the library’s collection for others to enjoy.
In order to have existing Leonia Library fines waived, Leonia cardholders must visit the Leonia Library from October 1 to October 31, 2019 with their library card and speak to a staff member at the Main or Children’s Room Desk.
Please be aware that, as per BCCLS policy, having 10 or more overdue items on a library card or having any item that is 60 days or more overdue will result in the suspension of borrowing privileges until the items are returned.
Fines will not be waived for Museum Passes and Sphero Kits

Saturday, October 19, 2019, 1:00-6:00 pm (starting at Leonia Public Library)
All these significant Leonia anniversaries fall out at the same time, and the Leonia Historic Preservation Commission invites you to join in their celebration:
125 years of the Borough of Leonia (incorporated in 1894);
100 years of the Players Guild of Leonia (oldest community theater in the State of NJ);
100 years of American Legion Post #1 (first in the State of NJ);
75 years of the Community Chest of Leonia;
50 years (to the day!) of the Leonia Public Library's opening in its present home.
Gather at 1pm at the Library for brief words of welcome, followed by a visual presentation about Leonia history. Then board a bus for a guided tour of the town's historical highlights, or stay at the Library to view two exhibits: one about the Library's history and another featuring artwork by celebrated Leonians of yore and that depict Leonia sites past and present. End the afternoon with a visit to the American Legion Hall for Leonia-themed refreshments and musical entertainment while viewing an exhibit of Post #1's history.
